nn Rose – Businesswoman’s Dilemma
|
ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.
Ann Rose was a very successful businesswoman in Lilliland. She owned three stores: a craft shop, a beauty parlor and a tearoom.
The businessmen in Lilliland held monthly meetings to plan business related events for Lilliland. But Ann Rose was never invited to be a member because she was a businesswoman. As a result, the information about upcoming events important to her three businesses was denied her from the planning stages.
Finally, she asked Lady Angela of Alpine Castle if she would intervene and allow women in business to become eligible for membership in the all men’s business association. Lady Angela asked the Baron and Professor Hamblin, his chief advisor, to look into the situation.
Professor Hamblin said that since the Businessmen’s Association used the Lilliland-owned public meeting room for its meetings, it meant that they would have to allow membership to all qualified citizens of Lilliland, regardless if they were men or women. The Businessmen’s Association would have to allow Ann Rose membership if they wished to continue to use the meeting room.
The men wisely voted to allow women into the membership of the association. They concluded that since she owned three businesses in Lilliland and she enjoyed the reputation of being very successful, they would not delay in welcoming her into full membership.
Naturally, they also got to keep the same room for their monthly business planning meetings.
