ew Plants for Lilliland
|
aron Von Lodge was the head of a small country known as Lilliland near Switzerland. The time was the early 1900s.
When Baron Von Lodge and Lady Angela of Alpine Castle visited other countries, they always paid attention to the flower gardens, the trees, and beautiful landscape of the country.
Upon his return from their latest trip, he decided to introduce some new plants to Lilliland and Lady Angela was interested in establishing some new flowers in her Alpine Castle gardens. The Baron also wanted to introduce some different types of trees to the landscape of Lilliland. The Baron liked lush green foliage around the Lilliland Castle that would look beautiful all year long.
The Baron was concerned that perhaps some of the plants that he wanted to bring to Lilliland would not survive the harsh seasons of the Alpine Mountains weather so be brought in a world-renowned botanist from England to recommend what types of plants and trees had the best chance of survival.
The botanist checked the weather records, climate, rainfall, snowfall, wind speeds, soil consistency, fertilization formulae, and everything else a skilled botanist would research.
The Baron also wanted a special, hearty, ground-covering plant that would prevent landslides when planted on the mountainsides.
Since the botanist was so careful in the selection of the plants, most of them survived very well. The botanist reminded the Baron that it was not only the choice of plants, but also the care taken in the actual planting and nurturing of the young seedlings that also counted toward success.
The results of the new plantings spoke for themselves. Lilliland never looked more beautiful and everyone was happy.
