he Man Who Always Said “No”

ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.

There was a man in Lilliland who regularly said “No” to every question that he was asked.

When John visited friends’ homes and they asked him if he wanted a cup of tea, he said “No.” Coffee, John said “No.” A cookie or biscuit, again “No” was the answer. People began to think of John as an unfriendly and unsociable person.

A friend even offered John a pet dog and he said “No.”

One time, a very pretty girl was talking to John at a social affair and she said that she would like to call him and ask John for a date, to which John said “No.”

After that incident, John’s friends began to really think that this was beginning to be a problem. Was it more serious than they realized? His friends really tried to help him but nothing seemed to work. They were forced to give up the idea of helping him.

The unique thing was that John was a very nice, all-around person except for the always-answering-no problem.

A local psychologist gave up after the third meeting because it was hard to communicate with anyone who always said “No” to every question.

Finally, one day John began to think how great a fresh stack of blueberry pancakes smothered in butter and syrup would taste. So one morning he went to his favorite pancake house where they had a special. The special was all the blueberry pancakes a person could eat for one low price. That sounded just great to John.

So, into the pancake house John went to enjoy some blueberry pancakes. After he finished off the first stack of blueberry pancakes, John commented to the waitress how good they tasted. The waitress said that a second stack was free if he would like to eat some more.

The waitress then asked John, “Would you like some more blueberry pancakes?” To which John smiled and said, “Yes, please.”

Since then John would sometimes say yes to questions.
