isiting Sisters

ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.

During the times when Lady Angela of Alpine Castle had to be away from Lilliland, she arranged for Professor Hamblin to have some interesting guests.

A renowned diplomat, Charles Barkley, was often invited for a visit. He would bring along his three grown daughters, Mary, Martha and Mindy. All three sisters had been educated to be diplomats. They were very knowledgeable on current world events. Their father was a longtime friend of Professor Hamblin’s from Oxford and Cambridge Universities. The local newspapers often interviewed the three sisters and the same questions were always asked.

“Why did you choose to train to be a diplomat rather than take the traditional road of marriage and child rearing?”

Their replies were always the same.

“The time involved in raising a family and being in one place would make the life of a diplomat almost impossible. Besides, all women should be given a choice of what they want to do with their lives.

“Why spend all that time on a diplomatic education only to be in a situation where it cannot be used because of the family obligations?”

The sisters knew first hand from their father’s diplomatic experiences that travel throughout the world was a large part of the job. They also knew first hand that proper diplomacy affected world events and to be part of that scene was extremely valuable. On the world scene, excellence in diplomacy can prevent war and prevent disastrous consequences for all parties concerned.

The three sisters considered diplomacy a very noble calling that they took very seriously.

The Professor always enjoyed the many discussions that they had when Charles Barley visited.
