Thousand Meals a Year

ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.

For several years the women of Lilliland were going to Paris for their clothes shopping. They wanted to be more fashionable and Paris was the place to go.

But, each year the women of Lilliland complained that the Paris fashions were designed for women who were very slight in build. The women felt that they needed larger sizes but the Paris designers said no to their request. The Paris designers said that if they wanted to wear their fashions, they women must slim down.

Lady Angela, of Alpine Castle, took up the cause of the women’s fashion problem. She asked for a few women to meet and talk with Professor Hamblin. The Professor said that he would review their request and consult with some Swiss experts on becoming slim and fashionable.

The recommendations were that when the women looked at the fact that they ate a breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday, that came to over one thousand meals a year. Anyone who ate that much and that frequently must be out of fashion. The experts suggested that they eat half their normal portions, not to eat fast, and eat in a quiet friendly atmosphere. Avoid second helpings and not pressure others to eat when they stop.

Some women were so concerned about any wasted food leftover from a meal that they ate it themselves. They thought that if they didn’t eat it all, it would have to be thrown out.

The experts noted, “Eat less in portions, don’t snack between meals, and remember that everything you eat takes approximately fifteen hours to go through the digestive system and be eliminated.”

Many of the women of Lilliland tried this advice and after a few months, the Paris fashions began to appear on the boulevards of Lilliland.

“The whole secret is attitude. Think of food as food and a substitute for feeling bored and unappreciated. A little waking exercise is also a good idea.”

Lady Angela kept herself trim because she loved the fashions that her dressmaker copied from the Paris designers.

Almost anyone can be trim if taken seriously and not feel that they are denying themselves anything.
