re You Someone Important?

ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.

The Baron’s chief advisor, Professor Hamblin, sometimes took a vacation away from his duties in the running of Lilliland. He usually had a guest visit him. Her name was Lorraine. Not too much was known about Lorraine except that she was a friend during his days on the faculty at Oxford University in England.

The Professor cleared a two-week period for his vacation, and then went up on the Alpine Mountains to his cabin. Lorraine joined him for the vacation. They packed a three-week food supply in case a late snowfall sealed the access roads and trails.

About half way through the two-week stay, Lorain suddenly appeared at the Baron’s castle and said that she could not find the Professor. He had been missing for two days and she was very worried. A search party needed to be dispatched immediately. There had been some severe weather near the cabin but everything was safe. The Professor went off to take some pictures of the mountains and never came back.

The search began immediately, but after three days, there was no sign of the Professor.

Finally, when everything appeared hopeless, the figure of a man appeared at the front door of the Baron’s castle. The person was very disorganized and grungy. The guard at the door asked the stranger if he was important because he had asked for the Baron directly.

When the Baron received the news about the stranger at the front door, he first thought that it might be someone who knew the whereabouts of the Professor.

As the Baron looked at the bewildered stranger, he looked somewhat familiar. His clothing was torn and tattered, as if he had fallen down. Sure enough, it was the Professor.

The Baron immediately summoned his medical staff to examine the Professor to see what had happened to him to make his appear like a shabby lost soul.

The medical staff learned that the Professor had fallen down a hill while taking pictures and hurt his leg so badly that he could hardly walk. Finally, with the assistance from a stranger, he was helped to the front door of the castle. But the Professor had a bump on the head due to the fall, so it was not clear who he was.

When the guard at the front door of the castle asked him if he was someone important, he did not really know for sure who he was.

After a few days rest, the Professor was as good as new.
