dentification Cards

ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.

Some years earlier, it was proposed that every citizen of Lilliland carry an identification card with his/her picture on it. The card would have the name, birth date, and brief medical history on it.

There was some protest about the card stating that the card was just a method of controlling the people. The protestors were correct in one sense, but eventually they realized how many people were lost due to a mental problem, or amnesia, receiving a knock on the head from a mountain fall, or people just not remembering things about themselves that they should, in the event of an emergency. The cards of people who died in an avalanche were very helpful in the notification of the next of kin. Very young children wandering off into the woods were found and quickly united with their parents.

The card was invaluable in helping to get the proper first aid treatment when warranted.

Everyone could be easily accounted for in the time of great need. When visitors came to Lilliland, their passports would suffice for proper identification. But when the hotels asked for their passports, they were given a temporary identification card.

If a person chose not to carry the identification, then should they need first aid treatment, they must pay a fee for the extra inconvenience required in the absence of proper medical history that the card would routinely provide.

Anyone who entered Lilliland illegally, or with false identification, in order to commit illegal activities, were quickly caught and brought to justice. But it didn’t work all the time because some thieves who committed crimes still had a valid identification card. They just hoped that they would not be caught.

The identification cards worked best for those lost souls who were found wandering around without any idea who they were. The medical problems were the best reason for having the cards. Their practical usefulness outweighed any inconvenience that the cards might have caused.

Lost and confused hikers are the number one reason why the cards worked to the satisfaction of caring loved ones who could not find their family members lost in the Alpine Mountains around Lilliland.
