enny's Farmers Market Incident
|
ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.
One of the popular events in Lilliland was going to Benny’s Farmers Market in the center of town. Each Saturday morning, the local farmers offered fresh produce to the public. It was of a high quality and sold with a satisfaction guarantee.
The local farmers enjoyed the market because it gave them a chance to show off the fine work and dedication that went into growing the best produce.
Like neighboring Switzerland, the cheese that was sold at the market was of a very high quality. Visitors bought cheese for their family and also as gifts for relatives and friends.
There were several cheese shops in the market so everyone had a choice. However, a problem developed at one of the cheese shops. It was the Sun Cheese Shop that began telling customers that the cheese did not have to be carefully stored in a very cold place. They said that their cheese was special and it did not need to be stored like the others.
But when people bought this particular cheese, they found that it went bad in a few days and the taste changed because it had not been refrigerated. An unsightly green mold appeared and added to its failing.
When the unhappy customers complained about the bad cheese, the farmer’s attitude was that it was somehow the buyer’s fault. This made the customers feel that they were being cheated and decided to do something about it.
Those who bought the bad cheese decided to tell all their friends about it and suggested that they did not shop at Benny’s Farmers Market anymore because they felt that the market had lowered its standards.
The Baron heard of this and decided to do something about it. “The cheese shop,” the Baron said, “had better shape up or ship out and stay out of the market. Customer satisfaction is the policy, like it or leave.”
Benny’s Farmers Market corrected the problem and shoppers could return and buy with greater confidence.
