hurches in Lilliland

aron Von Lodge was the head of a small country known as Lilliland near Switzerland. The time was the early 1900s.

The royal advisors met to ask the Baron to name a single church as the official church of Lilliland. They said that a single church would be less confusing for everyone and it would be easier to arrange the festivals and other annual religious activities of the country.

The Baron thought about this for a long while and decided to summon his teacher, Professor Hamblin, down from his mountain retreat to review the matter before the Baron rendered an official position.

Following Professor Hamblin's visit, the Baron seemed more confused than ever as to what to do about the religious question. The Baron met again with the royal advisors on the question of the single church for Lilliland and said that he would need more time. This time the Baron went up to the mountain retreat and stayed with the Professor in the solitude of the mountaintop to think further about the matter. This was a very important decision and it would involve the future of Lilliland and all its citizens.

Upon his return from the top of the mountain with Professor Hamblin, the Baron summoned the royal advisors together to hear his decision. The Baron said all religions would be welcomed. There were just a few concerns. The religions would stay within the spiritual message of practicing the golden rule found in all religions. They would not say anything against the other churches in Lilliland, they would not have animal sacrifices as part of their rituals, and they would show a love of nature in their deeds. These rules were agreed upon by everyone.

Everyone was very happy with the decision and wisdom of the Baron.
