olf in Lilliland

aron Von Lodge was the head of a small country known as Lilliland near Switzerland. The time was the early 1900s.

Lilliland was in the Alpine Mountains and was a very popular place for sportsmen. Everyone enjoyed skiing, mountain climbing, horseback riding, camping, sailing on the large Castle Lake, and many other activities.

Several sportsmen from St. Andrews in Scotland liked to vacation in Lilliland during the summer. They would bring their golf clubs along and play in the fields of Lilliland since there was no golf course.

The group from Scotland asked to meet with Baron Von Lodge to make a special request. The sportsmen asked the Baron if they could build a golf course like the course at St. Andrews in Scotland. They thought that the Lilliland Castle lawn would make an excellent location for a golf course. The Baron said he would review the matter and get back with them at a later time.

The Baron and Lady Angela of Alpine Castle, his fiancée, liked sporting activities. After the Baron met with his advisor, Professor Hamblin, it was decided that no one knew enough about the game of golf to make a decision.

The Baron and Lady Angela would visit the golf course at St. Andrews the next time they went to Scotland, which happened to be in a few months. Lady Angela had some relatives in Scotland whom she planned to visit.

Their visit to the golf course at St. Andrews was very successful and both the Baron and Lady Angela liked the game of golf. Upon their return, they decided to let the sportsmen play golf in Lilliland. The Baron would build a golf course near Lilliland Castle and Lady Angela said that she would also build a golf course near Alpine Castle.

The following summer Lilliland had two golf courses for everyone to enjoy. The citizens of Lilliland were offered free golf lessons the first year and they could borrow the golf clubs and golf balls to get started. And that is how golf was introduced to Lilliland.
