'm Bored, Too

ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.

One sunny day when Professor Hamblin was shopping in the town center, he noticed a man carrying a protest sign. The sign said, “I’m bored, too.”

The Professor asked the man why he was carrying the sign and why did the sign say “too?” The man replied, “Because I am bored with life, and as for the ‘too’ on the sign, there is another sign carrier whose sign reads, ‘I’m bored.’ He said he did not want to be confused with the other man.

The man with the sign said that he just didn’t have anyone to share his interests with. Everyone seemed to be wrapped up in other things.

When Professor Hamblin mentioned the incident to Baron Von Lodge and Lady Angela of Alpine Castle, they found it amusing. Lady Angela said that she would like to talk to the two men who did not know each other.

Lady Angela invited both men to a luncheon at her home. Both men arrived and were introduced. The luncheon was served on the patio deck next to Castle Lake.

Both men said that the sign idea was not working because people would just look at the sign and think that the man carrying it was a very odd person.

Suddenly, both men saw a fisherman catching a fish on a nearby dock and wondered out loud what kind of fish it was and what the fisherman used for bait?

Then they both mentioned that they liked fishing but not going fishing alone and that there was no one to share the catch of the day.

Without much prodding from Lady Angela, both men decided to go fishing together the next day.

Lady Angela was so pleased that she invited the men to begin their fishing experience together from her private dock.

The “I’m bored” signs were never seen again because both men could share their enjoyment of fishing together. They could talk to each other about the big fish that got away.
