illiland Ledger Newspaper Scandal
|
ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.
One day a newspaper began to be printed in Lilliland. Lilliland has other newspapers, so this was not unusual except for the fact that this newspaper began printing stories about the Royal Families in Lilliland.
First it claimed that since Lady Angela of Alpine Castle had not been seen publicly in several weeks, she was deathly ill. When Lady Angela read the story, she promptly went shopping and everyone saw that she was fine. A few weeks later, the story came out that Lady Angela was expecting a baby and she was not married. Then a story came out that Baron Von Lodge had a secret mistress in the castle that no one ever saw. A story followed that Lilliland was nearly bankrupt. The Baron’s wild parties in the dungeons of the castle were so expensive that the treasury was running out of money.
The Baron and Lady Angela knew that all of these stories were not true. Professor Hamblin, the Baron’s chief advisor, was called in to find a solution.
The Baron told the Professor to just fix it and don’t tell him about it. The Professor said that if you can’t lick them, then join them. This made no sense at the time to the Baron.
A week later, Cousin Wilfred from England, visited Lilliland and spoke with the Professor about a secret plan.
The following week it was announced that Cousin Wilfred had purchased 51% of the ownership of the Lilliland Ledger Newspaper. As part of the purchase deal, Cousin Wilfred would be in charge of the editorial board and he quickly put his main point of view into operation. That was no story would be printed unless it was absolutely the entire truth. The untrue stories about Lady Angela, the Baron and the Lilliland treasury were all retracted.
The Lilliland Ledger Newspaper eventually became an accurate source of information about current Lilliland news so that the citizens could keep up to date and well informed.
