itter in Lilliland

aron Von Lodge was the head of a small country known as Lilliland near Switzerland. The time was the early 1900s.

The large and beautiful parks of Lilliland are a sense of great joy and pride to all of the citizens. Mothers enjoy taking their young children to the park in their baby carriages. The senior citizens of Lilliland like to visit with friends in the park among the beautiful surroundings.

The park rangers were noticing the accumulation of litter in the park as of late, and were concerned about it. In the past people would go out of their way to leave the picnic area as clean as they found it. There was never a spot of litter to be found.

The Baron was advised of this problem. Guests and tourists would go away from Lilliland with the wrong impression if the parks were not kept litter-free. It would certainly be bad for business. It would also be bad for the children who love to play in the park and it would be bad for the senior citizens who love to stroll and visit in the park with their other senior friends.

The Baron met with his royal advisors to determine what could be done. It was determined that the litter in the park was a sign of the lack of community pride. The people who left their litter behind were just not thinking that other people like themselves would be using the park. Once it was pointed out to people that other citizens of Lilliland would be using the same park space that they just used, they would go out of their way to leave the area as nice as they found it. Parents were advised to pick up after children until they were old enough to pick up after themselves. As adults, they realize that it is their responsibility to keep the park neat and clean. The people of Lilliland realized that responsibility for the park's appearance was up to each person who used it.

Now the park is beautiful and clean again.
