ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.
Lady Kathleen Foxworth was spending her year of mourning over the skiing death of her husband at Lady Angela’s castle in Lilliland. Lady Angela was the fiancée of Baron Von Lodge. Both the Baron and Lady Angela knew how sad and difficult this mourning period was. Lady Foxworth, affectionately known to her close friends as Foxy, started to seek the advice of Lady Angela in which activities she might begin to participate. She loved all kinds of sports including sailing, hiking, horseback riding, skiing, ice-skating. She also missed the fashion designing business that she had in Paris. These long quiet talks with Lady Angela started some ideas stirring. Lady Angela felt that the fashions the women wore in Lilliland were too restricting to do the same kind of sports and activities that the men enjoyed.
Foxy decided to do something about it by hiring some of the seamstresses and tailors of Lilliland. They would come to Alpine Castle to meet with Lady Angela and Foxy. The first project was a fashion for Lilliland women who liked sailing on Castle Lake. Long dresses and parasols were replaced with smart blue blazers and white slacks. Deck shoes replaced high heels and a smart navy hat that would not blow away in a stiff breeze. For cooler days there were turtleneck sweaters to keep them warm while sailing. The women of Lilliland liked the style. They asked for the same style for hiking and horseback riding.
Initially the men did not like the style because it made them look like they were wearing men’s clothing. Eventually a compromise was made and everyone was very pleased with the new styles. The women of Lilliland enjoyed the same sports that men did and didn’t feel left behind.
Lady Angela and the Baron liked the way that Foxy was engaging in activities that helped everyone as well as helping herself.
