aron Von Lodge was the head of a small country known as Lilliland near Switzerland. The time was the early 1900s.

Lilliland had always been a very quiet country and people who liked being close to nature went hiking and camping in the Alpine Mountains. There was no hunting and the law allowed no guns in Lilliland. No killing of birds or animals in the name of sportsmanship was allowed. Therefore, these laws kept Lilliland very tranquil.

Sudden loud noises could cause Alpine Mountain avalanches. One more good reason not have loud noises.

The Baron’s Lilliland Castle was next to the large Castle Lake, as was Lady Angela’s Alpine Castle. Therefore, any sudden noise from the lake was heard immediately at both castles.

Very late one night a loud noise was heard on the lake that sounded like a charge of dynamite was set off. The following morning it was widely reported by many of the citizens that they also heard the noise.

Two nights later the same blast was heard and then three nights later still another blast. The Baron asked that the castle security force look into the matter but no damage was found. The Baron asked his chief advisor, Professor Hamblin, to investigate the situation.

The Professor sat by the edge of Castle Lake where the noise had been coming from to see if he could determine what was happening. He quickly discovered that some illegal fishermen were using dynamite to drive the fish into their fishing nets.

When the Baron heard about his he said that this was not only a crime against Lilliland, but a crime against nature. The castle guards positioned themselves quietly along the shore and caught the illegal fishermen just as they were about to set off another blast.

They were quickly brought to justice. They caused so much damage in the lake that there had to be a ban on all fishing until the proper balance of fish was restored to the lake.

Lilliland was surrounded by natural beauty and everyone appreciated it and wanted it to stay that way.
