ortraits in the Great Hall
|
aron Von Lodge was the head of a small country known as Lilliland near Switzerland. The time was the early 1900s.
In the Great Hall in Lilliland Castle, the portraits of the Royal Lodge Family were hung. The portraits collectively tell the story of the history of Lilliland and its royal family leaders.
The Baron wanted all the portraits cleaned and restored because they were in faded and cracked condition. Each of the portraits had to be checked to make sure that the nameplate was in the proper position. Three of the portraits had missing nameplates. Of the three, two were easily found, but the missing third one was a mystery. After a few weeks of searching, nothing turned up and the Baron thought that the person in the portrait was not a royal family member. The day the portrait was to be removed because the person was unknown to anyone, Lady Angela of Alpine Castle looked at the portrait and recognized the person. It was Cameron Lodge, Earl of Winchester, from England. He had a large estate in England and an even larger estate in South Africa. It had been a long time since anyone had seen or heard from him.
Lady Angela reminded the Baron that Earl Lodge had diamond mines and was well known around the world for his beautiful and priceless diamonds. He had donated the money to build the chapel in Lilliland next to the castle.
The Baron felt very sorry about not recognizing his relative and restored his portrait to its proper position in the Great Hall with all the other member of the Royal Lodge Family.
