ailing and Sinking

ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.

The Baron worked hard to promote Lilliland as a safe and attractive vacation resort. One of the most popular events was to rent a sailboat and sail around beautiful Lake Lilliland. There were several large and attractive sailboats that were available for the tourists.

However, the word was circulating that a sailboat named “Breeze” had the reputation of sinking sometimes for no apparent reason. “Breeze” had two sails, the mainsail and a smaller sail. If the skipper of the “Breeze” were satisfied with sailing around using only the small sail, then the boat would not sink. But when the mainsail was used, the hull began to leak. The boatyard people were unable to find and fix the mysterious leak.

The situation was starting to give the entire marina a bad reputation. Something had to be done so that all the sailors remained as safe as possible. The Baron was deeply upset about this entire matter.

“Breeze” was taken out of the water and placed in storage in dry dock. Finally, a few weeks later, “Breeze” was moved to a junkyard where boats go to be chopped up and sold for firewood. “Breeze” was a beautiful sailboat and it really looked out of place in the junkyard.

The sailboat just sat among the junk, week after week. No one could come forward with a solution as to what to do with this beautiful boat.

Finally the day before the “Breeze” was to be dismantled and chopped for firewood, someone came up with an idea. It was the marina’s gardener and landscape designer. His idea was to move the “Breeze” to the front of the marina and use it as a planter for some very pretty flowers.

The Baron liked the idea and everyone was very pleased.
