illiland Marketplace
|
ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.
Since the vacationers who visited Lilliland were an important part of the economy, the Baron was always concerned that the visitors enjoyed themselves and never felt cheated out of their money by paying too much for an item.
Therefore, the Baron had a group of officers patrol the Lilliland Marketplace to settle any disputes about the price of any item that a visitor wanted to purchase.
Sometimes the vendor was correct and sometimes the tourist was right. But it was important that any and all disputes were handled in a very friendly manner. It was important to the Baron that the visitors enjoyed themselves while shopping at the Marketplace.
If a vendor had too many complaints against him, he could be asked by one of the officers to close up his shop for the day.
A lot depended on the attitude of the vendor. If he was friendly and understanding with the tourist, then he was often given only a warning and a second chance before asking him to close his shop for the day. If it happened too often, he could be asked not to return for a month.
Usually, in the past, when a problem came up, it was not the vendor’s fault, but the attitude of the salesperson that the vendor hired. The employee’s problem was immediately handled quietly and to everyone’s satisfaction.
It was important to remember that the Marketplace was more of a social outing for the tourists. Here the tourists often met and talked with each other about the many things they could do while in Lilliland.
The Baron liked to see smiling faces in the Marketplace.
