enise Dare on the Slopes

ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.

Among the winter sports, skiing was the favorite. The Alpine Mountains offered three challenging ski trails, one for beginners, the second for average skiers, and a third for highly skilled skiers.

Every ski season, there were many familiar faces that came every winter on a regular basis. The Lilliland Ski Patrol knew most of them by name. The patrol always suggested that the skier know his skills and limitations and not try to do something that might be unsuccessful.

One such regular guest was Denise Dare from Ireland. Every season, she seemed to have a fall and break something. Once it was her arm, once, her leg, once her wrist, and twice she bruised her neck. All were from ski falls that occurred on the highly skilled ski trail.

It seemed that Denise was a less than an average skier in her performance, yet she thought she was highly skilled. That was where the trouble began.

Denise was a typical vacationer with no plans or goals of becoming a professional skier. She claimed that she skied just for the sheer enjoyment of the sport.

The ski patrol officers kept advising Denise not to ski on the advanced trail but she ignored them. The patrol officers felt that they should just give up on Denise.

Then one ski season, something strange happened. It seemed that Denise brought a boyfriend with her for a skiing holiday. She obviously like this new boyfriend very much. But the boyfriend said that he really was a very bad skier and did not like to ski on any trail that was not for the very beginners. She obliged him and so as not to think of her as a showoff, she also stayed on the beginners ski trail.

It turned out to be a lot of fun and when their holiday was over, no one had any broken bones or bruises from skiing.

The Lilliland Ski Patrol officers concluded that maybe romance could do things to make skiing safer than they could.

When the Baron heard the outcome of the events, he was delighted that everyone was safe and enjoyed their visit to the Alpine Mountains of Lilliland.
