e and My Money?

ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.

Away from the city life, on a mountain, lives a man from the Netherlands, Prince Richard. The Baron had spoken with the Prince several times. The Prince said that all of his inherited wealth and title did nothing but bring him grief and despair.

Women were always chasing him because of his wealth and position, and it seemed that the women’s mothers led the rush. He said that he felt that no one really took the time to know what he was really like.

He told the Baron that all he wanted to do was live quietly on the mountain and write poetry. Along with his inheritance, came a butler and cook. The butler would follow the Prince around the mountain dressed in a typical butler’s uniform with top hat and tails. He opened and closed every door and made sure that the Prince did not get cold or wet.

If the Prince denounced his rank and title, then he would be without funds to support himself and his love of writing poetry. True critics said that his poetry was awful. “It really stinks,” his best friend said, “but if it makes the Prince happy, then the poetry works well for him.”

One day, the Prince disguised himself and went into town in search of female companionship. He was able to elude the butler so he really was alone. He visited several night spots but could not find anyone who was interested in poetry.

Finally, he came across a nun ringing a small bell asking for donations. When she took a break, the Prince asked her if she would like a hot cup of coffee in a nearby restaurant.

The nun’s name was Sarah. It was not long until the nun realized that the man she was talking with was very well spoken and educated. He could not disguise his princely mannerisms. But they quickly grew to be fast friends. It seemed that Sarah like the Prince’s poetry.

After several meetings, the Prince asked if Sarah would like to visit his cabin in the mountains. She could bring along a sister superior. A charitable donation would be given for the friendly gesture.

Sarah did not take her final vows and began to think that it might be nice to help the Prince with his poetry.

The Prince offered and built an adjoining cabin next to his and a larger place for the butler. Sarah would live up in the mountains with the Prince and they would write poetry.

Everyone was very happy from that day on.
