illiland's Doomsday Plans
|
ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.
Several times a month, the Baron, along with his chief advisor, Professor Hamblin, and his fiancée, Lady Angela of Alpine Castle, would spend an appropriate amount of time making certain that their Doomsday Plan was up to date.
Basically, the Lilliland Doomsday Plan was prepared so that in the event of catastrophic problems, Lilliland would rise to the challenge and come through the disaster safely.
The plan included preparation against: a major avalanche that could bury most of Lilliland, a severe forest fire that could destroy some of the buildings, a flood from Lilliland Lake, the spread of a serious disease, air pollution, lake water contamination, airplane and airship crashes, attacks by outside hostile forces, etc., etc.
The plan was that the castle would have an officer-of-the-day in place at all times. In the event of a disaster, the officer would be immediately contacted. The Baron would be brought up-to-date, along with the Professor. The Baron would exercise Plan A.
Plan A was to protect the lives of all the people and their pets. All public buildings would be open 24 hours a day to house and protect the people. Medical services would be called in at once. Once all the people and pets were safe, then the Baron will instigate Plan B.
Plan B was to protect all the property. Disaster containment will be the primary order in this phase.
Next came evaluation of the disaster and the results to the normal function of Lilliland. Reconstruction would start when everything is safe. All of the buildings had plans in safe storage in the underground vaults. The plans then could be used to rebuild and restore all the facilities that had been damaged or destroyed.
The Professor philosophizes that when there is a plan, things never happen, but when there is no plan, then everything seems to happen. Without a plan, sometimes people, in an effort to help, make things worse. So, contingency plans are always good to have.
Also, plan to expect the unexpected, so one has to keep all the options open.
