ontessa Deitra Visits
|
ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.
The Lilliland Art League often sponsored traveling exhibits from other art galleries. Some of the work by famous Italian artist, Leonardo da Vinci, was scheduled to visit the Lilliland Art Gallery for a week. Security was all in place and everything was arranged.
Lady Angela of Alpine Castle, the Baron’s fiancée, was the hostess for the event. Also, the beautiful Contessa Deitra would be accompanying the art work and be available to talk about the works of art to the people visiting the exhibition.
Contessa Deitra would be staying with Lady Angela for the week full of events. The Baron would have several receptions, banquets, and meetings with the Contessa.
The week in Lilliland for the Contessa was well planned. She would arrive Thursday at noon by train from Italy and return the following Thursday at noon. Friday would be a reception and Saturday a banquet. There would be twelve pieces of valuable art and four large pieces of luggage for the Contessa’s attire.
Thursday came and the special moment of her arrival had a few unexpected surprises. Two of the art pieces, along with the Contessa’s luggage, were on another baggage car of the train and not unloaded. The Contessa had virtually nothing to wear but what she was wearing when she arrived. The ten of the twelve art pieces were properly hung in the gallery ready for exhibition.
Lady Angela arranged for the Contessa to wear anything from her own closet that she felt was appropriate. The train car that had the two pieces of art and her luggage was located going north to Paris. It would be rerouted and returned to Lilliland train depot by Monday.
The Contessa needed to borrow from Lady Angela a dress for the reception and a gown for the banquet. Lady Angela’s seamstress was put to work immediately.
At first the Contessa was embarrassed about the mix up but since she was approximately the same size and she and Lady Angela had similar tastes in clothing, everything went very well.
The visit was a big success and everyone enjoyed themselves. Lilliland was gaining prominence as an art and cultural center in Europe.
