edical Aid Lilliland Style

ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.
The Baron often spoke with his chief advisor, Professor Hamblin, about the medical needs of the citizens of Lilliland. The Baron felt that everyone became ill now and then, but the poorer people should not be denied the best medical care that everyone else received in Lilliland. The cost of medical care should not require that some families dip into their life savings to pay for medical bills.
The type of medical assistance that had been in place in Lilliland probably would not work well in other countries. However, if a Lilliland resident got sick, he went to the outpatient wing of the hospital for evaluation. In most cases, the treatment was immediately given and the patient went home for rest and recuperation. If it was more serious, he was admitted to a room in the hospital for additional care and treatment. There was no charge to the patient for this service. The patient paid nothing.
If a woman was expecting a baby, she went to the wing that offered prenatal, delivery, and post-natal care and it too was free for all Lilliland citizens.
When a Lilliland child attends school, he is taught the fundamentals of first aid and safety. Most people knew what to do if they saw an accident and how to render the proper response. A first aid team was called in and helped stabilize the patient and if needed, took him directly to the hospital.
If the patient was a vacationer from another country and had an accident, he was treated like a citizen of Lilliland and given proper treatment. This was another of the reasons that tourists chose to come back to Lilliland again and again.
Since many of the joys of Lilliland involved active outdoor lifestyles, good health was important to everyone for skiing, sailing, hiking, or just walking around the parks and shops.
Lady Angela’s ancestors first contributed to the building of the Lilliland Hospital. Lady Angela had always been a strong supporter of the maternity wing and the senior citizens’ convalescent wing. She was very pleased at the success of the free Lilliland medical program.
