ew Jersey Visits Lilliland

ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.

Professor Hamblin, the Baron’s chief advisor, was asked if Lilliland would host a group of six ladies from a beauty pageant in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

They would stay in Lilliland for a week as part of their European tour that included London, Paris and Rome. The two-fold purpose of the visit was to promote good relations with the countries and to model some of the fashions from the United States.

The Baron, along with Lady Angela, told the Professor to go ahead with the invitation. It could very well be an enjoyable event. None of the pageant winners have ever visited Lilliland and it could be a fine experience.

The twenty-one day schedule was tightly planned in order to have approximately four days in each location. The luxury cruise ship unfortunately had engine problems en route to England and arrived two days late. The London stay was fine except that it rained every day and the outdoor photo sessions were moved indoors. In Paris the car drivers were on strike and getting around was a problem. But the experience in the underground proved interesting. In Lilliland the four-day stay was trimmed down to two days. They had a fashion show, but part of the hotel they were staying in burned down, and the guests had to be evacuated. In Rome they had just a day and a half left and since their luggage was missing, the photo-shoot plans were cancelled.

All the women arrived just in time to catch the boat back to their corporate home base in New Jersey.

They all admitted that the trip looked better in the papers but the delays, bad weather, hotel fire, and missing luggage were all very trying, even for a seasoned traveler.

The Baron felt so badly about the brief stay in Lilliland that he invited all of them to come back. Lady Angela said that they would all be her guests at Alpine Castle for fun and relaxation.
