illiland Fish Chowder

ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.

Baron Von Lodge liked fish that was fresh right out of the very large Castle Lake. There were several very fine seafood restaurants on the shores of the lake. Let’s face it; one cup of fish chowder was as good as the next one. But why did everyone insist on having a cup of fish chowder from the Fish House Restaurant on the dock of Castle Lake before they went sailing, skiing, hiking or any other sporting event?

When mountain climbers reached the summit of the Alpine Mountain, they expected to be greeted with a cup of Fish House Chowder as a reward for their mountain climbing success.

The Baron asked Lady Angela and Professor Hamblin to engage in a little fish chowder experiment. The Baron got three different cups of fish chowder from three different restaurants and asked both Lady Angela and Professor Hamblin to label them as to the restaurant from which they came. The results were that all three tasted the same.

The Baron asked the Professor to explain what was the big fuss over the chowder that came from the Fish House Restaurant.

The Professor came back in a few days with the answer in three parts; first, it was a good warm healthy chowder; second, it brought the people together in a hearty warm-spirited way; three, they could raise their cups together in a toast to a good time with good friends.

It was all psychological and suggestive, the Professor concluded. “But for now, let’s keep this experiment a secret and let all of the people who come to Lilliland enjoy themselves in whatever sport they like, believing that the fish chowder is special.

On cold wintry nights, the Baron liked to sit by a fire in his Lilliland Castle study and enjoy a nice cup of fish chowder. Of course, the warmth of the fire and being with Lady Angela made the fish chowder taste even better.
