issing Key

ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.

One day, an unusual, finely decorated large jewelry box arrived for the Baron. A note was attached but it did not say from whom or from where it was sent. The note made the Baron think that it was from a cousin in Wales. The noted referred to the Baron’s upcoming birthday and said, “Do not open until the day of your birthday. A special key will be provided to open the box, but if you try to open it without this special key, then a secret device will destroy the contents, without hurting anyone.

The Baron decided to put the gift box away until his birthday. Since the box arrived two months early, the Baron spent much of his time wondering about the box’s secret contents.

On the day of his birthday a note arrived about the gift box. The note informed the Baron that the special key could be found in the garden of the woman he loved. The Baron said that was an easy clue because it meant that the key was to found in Lady Angela’s garden at Alpine Castle. But next, the Baron needed to find out where. The note said that the key would be wrapped in paper and placed under a statue of love. That would be the statue of Venus in the garden.

Sure enough, the key was exactly where the note said it would be. The Baron decided to open the gift at his birthday party and when he did, he found a note from his cousin in Wales. “Just as I thought,” he said. He also found a beautiful sapphire stone and a note saying that the best present one could hope for was to share the love of a beautiful woman, like the one he had, Lady Angela of Alpine Castle.

The sapphire stone was just the right size to be placed into a necklace. Lady Angela was given the necklace to wear and that way they both had a constant reminder of what the gift meant.
