pirit of the Mountain

ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.

The natural beauty of the Alpine Mountains and Castle Lake was a wonderment. Many people came to Lilliland for the skiing, sailing and horseback riding on the many mountain bridal trails. But some came for a more important reason.

The important reason that they came was known as the Spirit of the Mountain.

It was a vague concept but when people talked about it they mentioned that they felt at peace within themselves and the world around them.

The Lilliland Hotel offered a special treat for visitors who wished to partake of the spirit of the mountain at a mountaintop retreat. The guests were taken to a lovely chateau atop the mountain for three days. There they enjoyed the majesty of it all. The air invigorated them and the calm and serenity released them.

Artists, writers, musicians and other creative people looked forward to visiting the mountaintop retreat to regain their inner spirits. The reported that they felt inspired to move ahead in their careers.

The Baron asked Professor Hamblin if there was any truth to the myth of the spirit of the mountain. The Professor’s answer was rather strange for a man of science and facts. He said both yes and no. “If you believe in the spirit of the mountain, you will receive it and feel wonderful. If you do not, you will not experience anything more than a beautiful view of the Alpine Mountains.”

The Baron decided to visit the mountaintop retreat with Lady Angela of Alpine Castle. When they came back from the three-day retreat, they mentioned to the Professor that they really enjoyed the experience. It was definitely spiritually uplifting. “But then,” said the Baron, “anywhere that I go with Lady Angela, I always seem to have a very good time.”
