oyal Goat Left Alone

ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.

The shopkeepers and storeowners were losing their patience with the Baron’s pet goat. It seemed that the goat, because of its royal status, could wander around town anywhere it wished, and could walk in and out of stores without anyone touching it. The Baron declared that the royal goat was off limits to anyone who wanted to touch it.

The storeowners said that was not very nice because the goat scared customers away and the goat would eat some of the displays in the store. If the goat wandered into a restaurant, it would frighten the customers out of the dining room. Most of them would not come back in to finish dinner and would not want to pay their check. Merchants were clearly losing money.

Professor Hamblin was approached to see if he would ask the Baron to do something about his royal goat. The Professor mentioned the goat problems to the Baron but he refused to do anything at this time. The merchants approached Lady Angela of Alpine Castle about intervening and asking the Baron to please do something about the goat problem.

The Baron seemed to want to do nothing about the wandering goat. All the Baron would say is that the royal goat is off limits.

Finally, something happened. The goat somehow wandered onto the grounds of Lady Angela’s Alpine Castle. The roamed around the grounds and eventually headed for Lady Angela’s prize rose garden.

When Lady Angela was informed that the royal goat was eating her prize roses, she said, “Enough is enough.”

She took a few of the half-eaten roses to the Baron and said, “This is what your royal goat leave-alone policy has caused. Our relationship is ended and our engagement is over. You are the kind of man who doesn’t like beautiful flowers and you do not appreciate my rose garden.” She went back to her castle in a huff.

Shortly, the Baron’s grounds keeper was ordered not the let the royal goat go off the Lilliland Castle grounds. He was also directed to replace Lady Angela’s prized rose bushes.

Professor Hamblin was dispatched to Lady Angela’s home to patch up the broken engagement problem, which he did.
