unny Dale

ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.

Everyone at Lilliland Castle was looking forward to an upcoming event concerning the stables at the castle. A new horse would be arriving any day. It was a white stallion from Spain. It was to come overland by train and then by truck with a special stall to make certain that this valuable horse arrived safely.

The truck arrived and to everyone’s sad surprise, the horse named Sunny Dale was missing. It had been kidnapped along the route. A note was found in the truck that said, “If you want to see your horse again, pay thirty thousand dollars.”

The Baron wanted the horse but felt that the people in charge of transportation should have had more security in place to avoid this bad situation.

The Baron consulted with his chief advisor, Professor Hamblin, who said that paying ransom is always a bad idea. But what about the poor defenseless horse? Will they hurt the horse just for spite? The Professor always thought that those dishonest people who kidnapped other people always made a mistake in their plans that gave them away and they got caught and the victim was finally free and safe.

In the note it said that the money should be put into a sealed envelope and left in a post office box in Lilliland. The horse would be delivered within an hour after the envelope was received and the money counted. The Professor thought that this must have been an inside job and the horse, Sunny Dale, must have been hidden in Lilliland if it was going to be delivered within one hour.

The Professor’s plan was to try to determine where or how the white horse could be hidden. He suggested to the Baron that the horse might be hidden in plain sight right under their noses. A quick search of the Lilliland area turned up a new horse right out in the open painted with dark ink to make it look different, like a spotted horse, not a pure white stallion. The ransom money had been marked and paid and the horse was watched. When the people came to get the horse, they were nabbed with the money in hand.

How did the Professor figure the plot out just in time and he said the plot reminded him of the Trojan horse. It was an object that was not as it appeared to be.

The kidnapper were arrested and brought to justice. Sunny Dale was very happy in his new home in Lilliland among new friends.
