earching Grandmothers

ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.

Lilliland, like neighboring Switzerland, was a neutral country in times of war or any conflict between countries. As the storm clouds of the World War began to hover over England and Germany, many citizens sent their children to a safe haven for the duration of the conflict.

Professor Hamblin, the chief advisor to the Baron, had many friends in England at Cambridge University where he taught for many years. One of his friends sent his son, a young man of fifteen, to stay in the Lilliland-Switzerland area for safety. He had chronic asthma and was not in good health. The young man, Philip Andover, stayed with a dentist’s family in Lilliland and was enrolled in a prep school in Switzerland just a short distance away.

The young man’s two grandmothers in Cambridge decided to visit him to see how he was progressing with his studies. The parents had tragically died in an automobile accident in England and it was now up to the two grandmothers to raise the child.

The grandmothers came to Lilliland and to the Castle to meet with Professor Hamblin. The Professor learned of the death of Philip’s parents and gently broke the news to the young man.

His studies continued at the Swiss prep school and he was in his final year of studies before attending a university. He said that he wanted to be a dentist just like his friend and would begin his university studies in England at Cambridge University.

The grandmothers were delighted with Philip’s progress in his studies and his plan to attend Cambridge University in their hometown.

As the World War ended and Philip graduated from the Swiss prep school, he returned to England.

Everyone was very happy with Philip’s decisions and achievements.
