aron Goes to Dentist
|
ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.
No one doubted the intelligence and bravery of the Baron as the head of Lilliland. Lady Angela, his fiancée, always was impressed with his understanding of worldly problems. Professor Hamblin, formerly of Cambridge University, thought that the Baron could hold his own at any faculty meeting discussing topics of international merit.
But when the Baron had a toothache, everything about the Baron’s polished demeanor changed to that of a scared rabbit, or so it seemed. He hated going to the dentist to have his teeth cleaned, drilled, filled, pulled, or anything else.
Professor Hamblin was called to remind the Baron that the tooth that was causing the pain was less than the size of a Lilliland postage stamp. Lady Angela promised to be by his side while he was in the dentist’s chair to hold his hand and say words of comfort.
The Baron wanted everyone in Lilliland to have an attractive smile, especially for the visitors and tourists. Happy smiles encouraged tourists to return to Lilliland and that was very good for the economy. Tourists spent lots of money at hotels, restaurants, shopping, sightseeing, boating, horseback riding, clothes, etc., and etc. It was good for business.
The Baron had established free dental clinics for the citizens to receive very good dental work free of charge. This was because a healthy mouth was a mouth that was happy and friendly.
The free dental program was working well and everyone was happy.
The money to support his dental program and other projects that helped everyone in Lilliland came from the moderate taxes that everyone paid.
As nice as this dental program was, it didn’t address the problem that the Baron had great fear when he had to go to the dentist. For this problem the Professor and Lady Angela had no sure solution except that the end result was healthier teeth.
