aron's Toothache

aron Von Lodge was the head of a small country known as Lilliland near Switzerland. The time was the early 1900s.

The Baron was wondering why whenever a toothache occurred it was usually in the middle of the night or on weekends. It usually happened when the dentist’s office was closed.

The Baron consulted with his chief advisor, Professor Hamblin, about the toothache problems that everyone seemed to have at one time or another in their lifetimes. The Baron’s fiancée, Lady Angela of Alpine Castle, was brought into the conversation about the problem of toothaches. “Toothaches always seem to happen at the wrong time,” she agreed.

The Baron said that it was a 24 hour a day and seven days a week problem. The best place for people to go with a toothache was to the Lilliland Hospital.

The Baron wanted a special facility in the hospital devoted to toothaches. Anyone visiting or living in Lilliland with a toothache could receive immediate care at the emergency dental care office in the hospital. Just walk into the dental office of the hospital any time and any day to have a dentist treat the toothache immediately. No appointment was necessary. The cost would be free for children and very minimal for adults. But there would be no charge if the person did not have the means to pay.

Of all the things that the Baron did to promote vacationers to Lilliland, he received the most thank you letters from the people whose vacations would have been ruined because of a toothache. The emergency 24 hour dental service really saved the vacations of hundreds of visitors over the years.

Later, when talking with Lady Angela, the Baron commented that a toothache is in an area no larger than a postage stamp, but the pain and discomfort can feel like being hit by an Alpine Mountain avalanche. Lady Angela agreed with the Baron.
