aisy's Colt

aron Von Lodge was the head of a small country known as Lilliland near Switzerland. The time was the early 1900s.

The Baron, with his horse Ridgeway, and Lady Angela of Alpine Castle, the Baron’s fiancée, loved to ride on the bridle path between their two homes. It was only three miles from the Baron’s castle to Lady Angela’s Alpine Castle. The bridle path along the shore of Castle Lake was a beautiful and refreshing ride in the early morning hours.

Lady Angela’s favorite horse, Daisy, was expecting a colt very soon, so the horse was kept in a comfortable stable in the barn. Twice before, when Daisy gave birth, the colt was stillborn. That is why this Lady Angela was very concerned about Daisy’s health. A veterinarian was on call at all hours to be there for Daisy.

The Baron like Daisy because Daisy liked his horse, Ridgeway. The Baron told Lady Angela that they made a fine and handsome group: the Baron, the Lady, Ridgeway and Daisy.

As the day of expectation arrived, so did the weather report that a severe snowstorm was coming over the Alpine Mountains heading directly toward Lilliland.

The snowstorm hit at night and Daisy went into labor at the same time. The veterinarian was immediately called to Daisy’s stable. In the snowy blizzard the birth took place, but the colt was very cold and still. Everyone began to worry about the newborn colt.

Daisy turned her head around and looked at the still colt and gave it a gentle nudge. The little colt began to move slightly at first, then began to try to get up on its wobbly legs. Finally, it began to move about and Daisy was a very proud mother. Lady Angela felt like a very proud mother, too, and they all breathed a sigh of relief. The Baron was there and felt like a proud father, even though Ridgeway was the real father.

Now when the Baron rides Ridgeway and Lady Angela rides Daisy, they are followed by a small colt named Snowy. Since the colt was born in the middle of a snowstorm, and was white and tan in color, what other name would be more appropriate?

Snowy would grow up to be a fine young colt and everyone in Lilliland was very happy for the family.
