isters at Alpine Castle

aron Von Lodge was the head of a small country known as Lilliland near Switzerland. The time was the early 1900s.

The Baron was engaged to marry the beautiful Lady Angela of Alpine Castle. Lady Angela lived alone with just a few attendants in her large castle a few miles away from Lilliland Castle. Both castles were on the very large Castle Lake. Sometimes Lady Angela would mention to the Baron that being in a large castle by herself was very lonely. Alpine Castle was the only home she had ever known but after her parents passed away and her sisters married and moved away she began to feel lonely. But she convinced herself she would survive until her own marriage when she would live in Lilliland Castle as Baroness Von Lodge.

Professor Hamblin, the Baron's chief advisor, received some bad news that a small abbey in the Alpine Mountains would be closing due to the lack of funds and low enrollment of newcomers to the sisterhood.

The sisters were from the St. Joan Abbey west of Professor Hamblin's mountaintop chateau. There were once 80 sisters at the abbey but now the number was down to 18.

When Lady Angela heard of their unfortunate problems, she asked the Baron if she should offer a wing in the castle to the sisters until they could solve their problems.

The Baron and Professor Hamblin thought that it was a very generous and good idea. The head of the abbey was contacted and invited to visit Alpine Castle. The plan was accepted and the sisters all moved into their own wing in the castle.

Now Lady Angela felt that she was not so lonely and she enjoyed the company of the Sisters of St. Joan. The following year a rich benefactor gave a large sum of money to the order so the sisters could return to their original abbey in the Alpine Mountains.

While the sisters were at Alpine Castle they learned to sail on Castle Lake where there was a boathouse filled with many boats of all sizes and types. They commented that sailing was very inspiring to them and hoped that they could come down to visit Lady Angela again soon.
