riters Conference

aron Von Lodge was the head of a small country known as Lilliland near Switzerland. The time was the early 1900s.

Since Lilliland was so peacefully situated in the Alpine Mountains and on the shores of the large Castle Lake it lent itself as an ideal location for a writers conference. The area was very inspirational and writers would develop some fresh perspectives and ideas for their publications.

The Lilliland Grand Hotel had a fine conference center and hundred of rooms that made each guest feel comfortable. It turned out that a booking mistake was made at the hotel and there were going to be more guests arriving than were expected. Professor Hamblin played a major role in the conference and he asked the Baron for a special favor. The Professor asked if one of the guests could stay at Lilliland Castle as a guest of Baron Von Lodge. The gentleman was a writer from England and the Professor thought the Baron would enjoy his company.

The man's name was Arthur Conan Doyle. The Professor mentioned that the published author was very clever to have his main characters use scientific methodology in finding the smallest clues that could turn the plot in a new surprising direction. His writing was so good that the reader actually believed the fictitious characters, Sherlock Holmes and Doctor John Watson, could be real people.

The Baron's guest, Mr. Doyle, mentioned that following the conference he would be going on to Switzerland to visit the dramatic Reichenback Falls.

The more the Baron got to know the writers, who told fascinating tales at the conference the more he wanted to be included in some of the meetings. The Baron always felt that the creative mind could develop and flourish in a place like Lilliland.

Lady Angela of Alpine Castle agreed with the Baron's point of view and also wanted to be included in the activities of the conference.
