aron Von Lodge was the head of a small country known as Lilliland near Switzerland. The time was the early 1900s.
Sammy, a local resident, was a thirty-year-old man who stood only three and one half feet tall. All his life, everywhere he went, people would mistakenly think he was only a child. People would impolitely stare at him and say things to him that were not very nice. He spent most of his time alone in his room or at the library in a very quiet area where he would spend his time reading. His parents tried to understand his situation and let him do the things that he wanted.
One day while the ancestral portraits in the Great Hall at Lilliland Castle were being cleaned and restored, it was discovered that behind one of the pictures was a map of the castle tower. This was the tower that had been sealed off many years ago and no one had been able to enter. The secret map indicated that this was the tower where the gold crown of Lilliland was hidden. The gold crown was missing for such a long time that it was almost forgotten. Everyone thought that history had recorded that the crown had been stolen over 500 years ago.
When the Baron was shown the map he immediately consulted with his trusted advisor, Professor Hamblin. He asked the Professor if the map was accurate. The Professor said that the only way to find out was to follow the map and investigate the sealed passageway to the tower. The map indicated a secret door and very small tunnel to the room in the tower that contained the gold crown. The entrance and tunnel were found but the tunnel was so small that no normal person could crawl inside. The only way for the tunnel to be entered was to tear part of it away, stone by stone.
Someone suggested to the Professor that perhaps Sammy could be of some help getting into the tower. Sammy was asked to help and he said he would give it a try. Sammy was very careful and he was able to crawl through the entrance and inched his way through the long, narrow tunnel to the room in the tower that hid the golden crown. He brought the crown back and presented it to the Baron. The Baron and the Professor examined it along with some experts and it was indeed the genuine crown believed to be lost for so many years.
The Baron was so pleased with Sammy that he made him Earl of the Golden Crown and gave him a large reward for his efforts. The gold crown was put on display in the Lilliland Museum for everyone to see.
