ysterious Oriental Orange Rose
|
ometime ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.
Every year there was a flower show and beautiful flowers were submitted from all corners of the world into competition. The red rose was the usual winner in recent years. But there was one new rose that was a strong competitor. The challenger was an unusual orange rose from the Orient.
The Oriental rose was sent from China to France to be close at hand for the next competition. Every time, in the past, when the rose was submitted, it ran into some unfortunate luck and never made it to the contest.
This time the rose would be submitted from a private garden in Paris and brought into Lilliland by armed courier.
As the day of the contest grew closer, the courier with the orange rose was dispatched to the contest. But at the last minute, word reached the judges that the courier had been kidnapped and the orange rose was mysteriously taken.
Finally, the courier and the rose were both found by the police to be safe and secure. But it was too late since the contest was over and a red rose had won the competition.
Since there were some people who doubted the authenticity of the orange rose, the people who sponsored the flower show decided to put the orange rose on special exhibition for everyone to see. The skeptics would now be satisfied that there was indeed a rare, orange rose.
The Baron and his chief advisor, Professor Hamblin, were following all of the happenings at the exhibition and were pleased with the outcome.
Lady Angela of Alpine Castle, the Baron’s fiancée, was so pleased with the orange rose that she asked the Baron to obtain one for her rose garden.
The Baron said that he would try to obtain the rose for her. He had to contact China directly where the rose was originally grown.
When the orange rose arrived and it was added to her rose garden, Lady Angela was delighted.
