azy Freddy

ometime ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.

Each year several new horses were added to the Baron’s stables. Usually the new horses worked out very well but one year a colt named Freddy just would not do anything. He stood around the stable with his head drooped most of the time. Freddy just seemed uninterested in any of the other horses in the stable. When Freddy was let out to pasture, he would go to the same corner and just stand there.

The stable groom called for the veterinarian many times but the doctor said that Freddy was just fine.

Finally the day came when another small group of horses were being added to the stable. There would be eight new horses. Freddy looked them over and suddenly he perked up. His interest was raised for there was one particular horse that he noticed. Freddy’s immediate reaction was to raise his drooped head and begin looking very carefully at this new horse of particular interest.

The new horse’s name was Suzie and she was very lively and pretty. She pranced around the yard and everyone seemed to notice her.

The stable groom wondered why Freddy was acting differently. It didn’t take very long for everyone in the stable to figure out why Freddy had become so active and cheerful.

Suzie had made the difference. It seemed that all Freddy needed was a stable mate like Suzie.

Freddy had been just a lonely horse and finding an appropriate mate was the answer.

When the Baron heard about how Freddy was doing, he turned to his fiancée, Lady Angela, and said, “Freddy and Suzie are just like you and me.”

Lady Angela replied with one word, “Absolutely.”
