ysterious Bookcase

ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.

Professor Hamblin, the Baron’s chief advisor, took great pride in the library in Lilliland Castle. He remembered well the outstanding libraries at Cambridge University and Oxford University and had the castle library keep in contact with them for any reference material he might wish to borrow.

But rumor persisted about the library that it housed several books that no one could find. The books were in the library but in a secret hiding place.

There were many books in the library that no one had ever read and they just occupied a bookshelf unbothered.

Then one day one of the books caught the attention of the Professor and when he started to remove it from the bookshelf, he noticed a handle behind the book. He decided to pull on the handle to see what would happen. He heard a click and then the bookcase began to move like a door was opening. There was nothing on the wall directly behind the bookcase but he noticed the bookcase was extra thick. It was thick enough to have another bookcase attached in back, behind it.

Professor Hamblin noticed that there were at least thirty or more books on the secret bookcase.

While the newly found books were covered with years of dust, they were carefully removed and inspected.

It turned out the books were all of historical value in explaining the early years of the founding of Lilliland. Many of the early founders wrote about their philosophy on the formation of a new country. The writings emphasized the natural beauty of Lilliland and the desire that everything be done to enhance and preserve its natural beauty, and that all the plants and animals be treated with care and respect.

When the Baron and Lady Angela of Alpine Castle became aware of the contents of the books they were overjoyed because they felt that they were following the wishes of their ancestors.
