rivate Life of Esther Ives

ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.

Esther Ives was considered an eccentric by many of the people of Lilliland because of her lifestyle. She lived alone in a very quiet house. When she would go out, it was usually on her sailboat by herself. But everywhere she went she always had her pen and tablet. She was always writing.

The few people who were invited into Esther’s home said that they felt that they were visiting a library. Books and books everywhere.

Few people understood that Esther was a writer and writers have been known to be a bit eccentric at times. When Esther went out sailing, she preferred to start at one end of the lake and slowly drift to the other part of the lake. She would pack a small picnic lunch and her pen and writer’s tablet. She would just drift on the lake and write as she drifted.

When asked why she didn’t ever use the sails, she said it was because the drifting inspired her writing.

People need to understand that writers are loners by nature and they spend hour upon hour thinking and writing.

When Esther’s sister came to visit her for a week, although it was a pleasant visit, Esther said that she really did not get any writing done. Too much conversation. But when her sister left, Esther was able to pick up the pace of her normal writing.

Sometimes Esther’s relatives kept their distance from her for fear that they might end up like one of the characters in her books. But Esther reassured them that all of her characters were really fictional. Still when some of the relatives read her books, they seemed to feel that one of the characters resembled them.

Esther loved her lifestyle and writing her books. But if it meant a quiet life, so be it, she felt.

Her relatives admitted that it was very nice to have a famous writer in the family.
