ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.
“Lilliland has a number of professional people and professions. There are several types of doctors with different doctoral degrees.
“Many people think that doctors only examine people and prescribe pills. He is not a real doctor if he doesn’t give you a pill for your condition. This is both inaccurate and wrong.
“There was a situation recently where a receptionist called everyone who was a male patient that came into the doctor’s office ‘Mr.’ even if he showed a doctoral degree on his professional business card.
“The receptionist was unknowingly creating an embarrassing situation in that she was implying that one doctoral degree was better than another.
“Most patients who were doctors ignored the whole thing and the receptionist was considered poorly educated and untrained for her position.
“The amount of time, money and dedication that goes into a doctor’s education is quite extensive and upon the achievement of the degree, it should not go unrecognized and should be properly acknowledged.
“The fault could be with the office manager, the doctor, the training program, a careless worker, or maybe a combination of all four.
“Sometimes, when a doctor who happens to be a patient speaks about it, he could be the subject of ridicule if the receptionist fails to acknowledge the significance her blunder.
“The receptionist might say that sometimes it gets so busy that she forgets, but if she forgot to call her boss “the doctor” at the office, she might find herself looking for a new job.
“Proper office protocol, even under great pressure, is something not to be forgotten.
“Professionals take their earned titles very seriously and they should receive their due consideration out of respect for the individual and the institution which it represents.”
Professor Hamblin stressed this point to all castle personnel hired for the Baron and Lilliland.
