lueberry Preserve Dilemma
|
ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.
It had been brought to the attention of the Baron and his chief advisor, Professor Hamblin, that the two blueberry preserve companies were having an argument again. They both wanted to be called the official blueberry preserve company of Lilliland.
The one company argued that since their main office and plant were outside of Lilliland, they could not claim to be official in any manner. The other blueberry company was situated in Lilliland; it is entitled to use the official Lilliland title.
The company within Lilliland’s borders wanted to have a protective tariff assigned to the outside blueberry preserve company since they were really outsiders. But the outside company said that they were only outside by three miles. “We are situated in our blueberry groves and the office and plant are all together. Your main office is in Lilliland, but your blueberry groves are all over the place.”
The Baron brought in some experts to taste the quality of both blueberry companies. The experts said that they were of equal quality. In fact, they added that the preserves were of outstanding quality.
Before rendering a final opinion in the matter, the Baron brought in one more special expert. It was his fiancée, Lady Angela of Alpine Castle. He asked her when she served the blueberry preserves on the toasted muffins for breakfast, which blueberry preserve did she prefer? Her answer was sincere and direct. She said both.
“Well,” the Baron said, “that’s it. Both blueberry preserve companies can use the word ‘official blueberry preserve’ on their labels.”
And that’s how the blueberry preserve dilemma was resolved.
Professor Hamblin said that he really couldn’t taste any difference between the two preserves. “They are both excellent.”
