eter’s Magic Flute

ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.

A young man named Peter Perry, who lived in Lilliland, would sometimes play his flute. Peter usually went up into the Alpine Mountains late at night during a full moon and played haunting melodies on his flute. The melodies would echo among the mountains and valleys in an enchanting serenade.

The Baron and Lady Angela of Alpine Castle sometimes went out on the balcony to listen for the distinctive sounds of the flute.

It had been rumored that when you listened very carefully to the sounds of the flute, it tended to touch your soul and any problems that you might be pondering became more easily solved and you felt a little better.

The Baron and Lady Angela asked Professor Hamblin, his chief advisor, if the sound of a flute was beneficial in any way. His answer was that the flute might be saying that the closer you stay tuned in to the natural order of things, the better off you may be. Sometimes, when artificial factors were introduced into the problem-solving scenario, the problem did not diminish, but became more complex and difficult to understand.

The tunes of the flute resounding in the Alpine Mountains were so pure that they helped put everything into a clear focus as to how everything would eventually work out.

The Baron said that he agreed with that point of view. When he stood on the balcony at night with Lady Angela by his side, he turned and looked at her in the moonlight and thought to himself how very fortunate he was to be with her.

The Professor also speculated that there could be some self-fulfilling prophecy here, as well. If you truly believed that everything would work out for the best, then it usually did. But the direction of the decision must be unselfish and for the good of all mankind and in tune with nature.

The quietness of the late hour, the full moon glistening on Lake Lilliland, the fresh snow on top of the Alpine Mountains, and a hot cup of tea to ward off the chill in the air, all added up to an enjoyable event.

What made Peter’s flute magical was that he wrote the music that he heard in the Alpine Mountains, which could only be heard by its composer. His music was truly from the heart.
