ady Angela’s Money

ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.

The Baron and his chief advisor knew very well that many countries historically had gone bankrupt over the years due, in most part, to poor financial management. All countries, at one time or another, seem to have serious financial problems.

While the Baron’s castle was being renovated to make it more like a country manor house than a fortress, costs kept rising for the construction work. Every day more expensive problems were developing. The Baron wanted all of the castle’s plumbing brought up to date with more bathrooms. Each guest should have his/her own bathroom and not have to share it with someone else. Security and privacy were paramount. These renovations were strapping the Lilliland financial budget.

When a late spring avalanche occurred, the cost of the cleanup was an additional unexpected expense.

Both a Lilliland bank and a Swiss bank had Lilliland’s financial resources. But the funds in the Swiss bank were not available for thirty days due to a periodic audit of the bank. The funds available in the Lilliland bank were too low to cover the additional expenses.

When Lady Angela of Alpine Castle heard of the problem, she offered to loan the Baron the money to see Lilliland through this temporary financial crisis. Fortunately, Lady Angela happened to be one of the wealthiest people in Lilliland so she could well afford the loan. But, she asked one thing in return. The groom at her stable, where her horse Daisy stays, has for sometime wanted to have the Baron’s horse, Ridgeway, share the same stall for a while to see if nature might take its course.

The thirty-day period soon passed and the Swiss bank had all of the Lilliland accounts available again. The first thing was to repay Lady Angela for her loan that helped save Lilliland. Lady Angela was pleased that she could help.

Lady Angela’s groom was not sure whether anything happened during Daisy’s visit to Ridgeway. But, a few weeks later the groom reported that Daisy was expecting her first foal in a few months.

Everyone was very happy for the Baron and Lady Angela. She asked what the foal should be named and where should it stay? Should it stay in the Baron’s stables or Lady Angela’s stables? The answer was with Lady Angela, and the name of the foal was “Lilliland.”
