irgin Princess Claudia

ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.

The Baron and his fiancée, Lady Angela of Alpine Castle, had an active social life in Lilliland. There were always receptions, state dinners and dances to attend.

One very prominent and popular guest at most of the important occasions was the young and beautiful Princess Claudia. She had the reputation of being the virgin princess because of her strictness and self-discipline with all her suitors.

But, suddenly Princess Claudia seemed to drop out of sight. There were nasty rumors that she was not a real princess, but of common heritage, and that she had a child out of wedlock, according to a hospital.

Then after many months, Lady Angela accidentally met Princess Claudia at a reception in Paris. Princess Claudia was escorted by her cousin who was an authentic duke. Lady Angela said to herself that this really made Claudia a real princess as a birthright.

In a quiet conversation, Lady Angela asked Princess Claudia why she was no longer attending social affairs in Lilliland. She said that the rumors of having a child out of wedlock and not being a real princess were just too much. People actually started to believe these false stories all over Lilliland. No one bothered to really check out the stories before repeating them to others.

“You can see that I am a real princess and there are no hospital records in Lilliland that I ever had a child.” Lady Angela said that she would like to find out how these rumors started when she returned home.

Lady Angela asked the Baron and Professor Hamblin, the Baron’s chief advisor, to check into these stories about Princess Claudia. It turned out there were no records of Princess Claudia ever being in the hospital. The rumors, it turned out, were started by a rejected suitor to get back at Princess Claudia’s rejections. When some of Claudia’s lifelong friends and neighbors began to act as if they believed these false rumors, there was nothing left for her to do than leave Lilliland for a while until the truth be known.

Lady Angela helped the truth be known so that Princess Claudia would feel secure and comfortable in Lilliland again.

Lady Angela told the Baron that spreading false rumors is very painful for the innocent victim. The Baron agreed.
