ully Bob

ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.

Sailing on Lilliland Lake was an enjoyable pastime for most all the people of Lilliland. But when they sailed everyone knew to avoid sailing near Bully Bob’s sailboat. He would cut in front of any sailboat, or threaten to ram a boat just for the fun of it. He was just as bad around the dock and boatyard. The Lilliland Marina officials warned Bully Bob about his undesirable behavior time and time again.

One day while sailing, Bully Bob had an accident and he broke his leg. His doctor put his leg in a cast and he was informed that he would have to learn to get around in a wheelchair for the next several weeks.

Bob thought to himself that he could manage the wheelchair by asking his friends to take turns pushing him around the dock area. In this way, he would not be totally confined to staring at the walls in his room.

Bob made a list of three friends at the marina that he would ask to push him around in his wheelchair.

Surprising to Bob, his list of three friends did not work out so well. The first friend said that he was too busy at his job and could not get away. The second friend said that he would be out of town on business for the next few weeks, and the third friend said that a relative was going to be visiting him and that he could not get away to help him.

This was devastating to Bully Bob and he began to think about the nickname he had earned. Was there any truth to the nickname, Bully Bob? He began to think very seriously about this and after several days, all alone, he began to mend his ways. He started to sincerely listen to what people had to say and began to form a different attitude about wanting to have his own way all the time.

Soon people began to notice that Bully Bob had changed his attitude and ways. He began to become more considerate of others.

Eventually his friends began to come back. He had learned a serious lesson about human caring and sharing. Soon his leg got better and he began to get around normally.

Over time he became Buddy Bob and no longer Bully Bob, as before.
