hite Suit Willie

ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.

Lilliland, like any place, has its set of unique characters. The Baron and his fiancée, Lady Angela of Alpine Castle, often talked about seeing White Suit Willie in the streets of Lilliland. What made Willie unique was that he was always wearing a white suit. In the heat of the summer or the cold of the winter, Willie always wore a white suit.

At eh cleaners where Willie took his suits, the cleaners mentioned that Willie actually had three white suits. One suit was worn when he worked around the house in his garden, the other white suit was when he went to do business, and the third white suit was when he went to church or attended special formal occasions.

When people carefully asked Willie about when he first started wearing white suits, he replied that for his graduation from school his mother gave him a white suit to wear. Since then, that was all he wore.

A Chinese tailor visited Lilliland once or twice a year to make custom suits and jackets for men. Willie had been one of his steady customers.

One year, Willie’s cousin sent him a brown suit for his birthday. Willie only wore the suit several times when his cousin visited, but that was it. He wanted to show some appreciation for his cousin’s thoughtfulness. But the brown suite rarely moved out of the closet.

When Willie’s cousin passed away, a week later Willie gave the brown suit to a charity.

Finally, the question was asked why he always wore a white suit? Willie’s answer had several parts. First, because his mother told him that he looked handsome in his school graduation white suit; second, when Willie went out and about socially, he stood out in a crowd and his white suit seemed to make it easier to talk with people and because of the first impression, curiosity developed.

Sometimes when he was younger and dating pretty women, the white suit did not work out so well because no matter what the woman wore, his white suit seemed to catch all of the attention.

So these were the main reasons why Willie became known as White Suit Willie.

Lady Angela said that if his white suits made him happy, that is all well and good. The Baron agreed and asked to Lady Angela, “How would I look in a white suit?”

She said, “For sailing, just fine.”
