onely Cat

ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.

The Baron’s fiancée, Lady Angela of Alpine Castle, had inherited a cat from a sick friend, several months earlier, to be cared for while she was hospitalized. The friend’s condition worsened and Lady Angela was asked to adopt the cat.

The cat, Mr. Whiskers, soon became very attached to Lady Angela and they became inseparable friends. Mr. Whiskers would stay in the room wherever Lady Angela was and would sleep on a small pillow near her bed at night. Everything appeared to be going along well.

When young Lady Kelly arrived from America, she also got along very well with Mr. Whiskers.

However, the staff of Lady Angela’s castle noticed that whenever Lady Angela would stay away from home for several hours, the cat would start pacing around the castle looking out the windows and moaning. At first the moaning was very soft but later grew louder. It eventually got so loud that it was heard from one end of the castle to the other. The cat’s meowing was reported to Lady Angela, but she did not know what to do. Hopefully, the cat would just stop his moaning as time went by. But even after a few years, the moaning did not stop.

Lady Angela found herself cutting short her regular visits to the Baron’s castle just a short distance away. This did not please the Baron so he would go back to Alpine Castle with Lady Angela just to keep the cat from moaning. But if the Baron had some serious state business, he really couldn’t be away from his office too long.

As the cat became more friendly with Lady Kelly, Lady Angela noticed that the cat began to spend more time following the young lady around the castle.

Things started to improve because when the cat was with Lady Kelly, and Lady Angela was out of the castle visiting the Baron, the cat would not moan. But when Lady Angela and Lady Kelly were both out of the castle, Mr. Whiskers began to moan again.

The temporary solution was not to have Lady Kelly and Lady Angela away at the same time.

Finally the seamstress in the castle made a cat doll for Mr. Whiskers with some catnip inside and that resolved the whole problem.

Everyone was happy with the results. And so was Mr. Whiskers.
