aron's Engagement in Doubt?
|
ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.
The Baron had been engaged to Lady Angela of Alpine Castle for many years and had loved every minute of it, until news arrived about the engagement. Professor Hamblin, the Baron’s chief advisor, received an official document of some historical significance. An ancestor of Lady Angela was promised Lady Angela’s hand in marriage to the firstborn son of a royal family of another country. This document was something that could not be dismissed lightly but must be taken very seriously.
The man was Lord Edward who would be arriving from his own country to Lilliland, a few days after receipt of the document, to discuss the prearranged marriage agreement.
The Professor advised the Baron that he officially suspend his engagement to Lady Angela until this matter could be resolved.
When the day came for Lord Edward’s arrival, everything was set, but the Baron did not know what to expect. Was this going to be a friendly or hostile meeting?
Lady Angela waited by the Baron’s side as Lord Edward arrived, and, to their surprise, he brought with him a woman introduced as Lady Charlene.
It seemed that Lord Edward wanted to marry Lady Charlene and needed to absolve any historical agreement regarding Lady Angela, whom he had never met and did not know.
The official meeting went extremely well and official papers were signed dissolving any previous ancestral agreement so that both men could be engaged to the woman each loved.
The two couples were so happy and got along so well that the Baron insisted that they stay on for several days to enjoy life in Lilliland. Since they all liked to ski and ice skate, those were the events they all planned together.
When they parted, they all said that they would be invited to each other’s wedding sometime in the future.
A few days later, the Professor met with the Baron and said that sometimes things have a way of working themselves out with everyone ending up very happy.
