otato Pie Contest

ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.

For the past twenty years the farmers and dairymen of Lilliland wanted a way to promote their fine produce and they came up with the idea of a contest. It would be called the potato pie contest.

The Baron and Professor Hamblin, the Baron’s chief advisor, agreed to the idea and gave their full support. The contest was limited to the citizens of Lilliland and they must use only ingredients grown or made in Lilliland in the potato pie.

The contest recipe was potatoes, onions, cream, and sausage. The spices and flavoring was up to the creative abilities of the individual.

The winner received a cash prize and the pie was featured in a local restaurant for all to taste and enjoy.

Fall harvest time was when the contest was held and the judges for the contest were twelve Lilliland citizens. None of the judges were allowed to be food experts, just everyday people who enjoyed eating delicious pies.

People from other countries visited Lilliland to observe the potato pie contest. This was encouraged so that the Lilliland farmers and dairymen could sell their produce throughout Europe.

The potato pie was not like a regular dessert pie, but was meal in itself.

The common potato pie had been thought of as something that was served to a family on a very limited food budget, but not in the royal family dining hall. But the Baron and Lady Angela of Alpine Castle, the Baron’s fiancée, both served it at their royal tables in their castles.

That was the highest compliment that could be paid to a recipe and product that was solely produced in Lilliland by the hard working people of Lilliland. The quality and richness of all the ingredients bespeak well of the excellent that is pursued in their work.

Tasting the Lilliland potato pie put a smile on everyone’s face.
